The City Mouse and The Country Mouse

Link, the country mouse, lived in a country house. He was really content with the house, until his brother came to visit. His brother, Rhett, was a city mouse and didn't visit often. Rhett was more than excited to brag about his house. "Where I live," Rhett boasted, "I dine off of the fineset cheeses and bread. I do not have to work for my food, because it is dropped off at my doorstep every night."

Listening to his brother speak, Link found himself unhappy with his conditions. He had to work day and night to get the food he had, and even then it was measily scraps. "Brother," Link said after a small supper, "I am going with you. To the city! I am tired of my country life. I want to feast on chesse, fish, and bread."

So off they went to the city, in which Rhett had made his house, but getting in was difficult. "Be quiet, the people are in the living room," Rhett ordered as he lead his country brother into the kitchen and onto the table. Link was amazed at the left over food on the table. This was more than he could eat in a month! A year even!

"This is the life," Link said as he nibbled on a piece of cheese. He would stay here forever. The city mouse laughed as he ate a piece of bread, but before either mouse could finish his meal a large tom cat entered the room.

"Run!" Rhett shouted, running towards his mouse hole as the cat jumped onto the table. "This way, brother," the city mouse called seeing his brother run in the wrong direction.

The country mouse was no fool, and just before he vanished out of the window he turned back to look at his city brother. "I am going home, no amount of finery would keep me here. To live in constant fear of this beast is not worth it," said the country mouse as he disappeared out the window.
